Important: IPMAT (IIM Indore) and JIPMAT (NTA) are two separate exams with different applications, portals, and selection processes. If you want to keep both IIM Indore and IIM Jammu/Bodh Gaya in play, register for both — iimidr.ac.in for IPMAT and jipmat.nta.ac.in for JIPMAT.
Application Process — Step by Step (IPMAT example)
IPMAT registration happens entirely online on the IIM Indore admissions portal. JIPMAT registration is on the NTA portal. The flow below describes IPMAT; the JIPMAT flow is analogous but on jipmat.nta.ac.in.
Step 1: Create Your IIM Indore Application Account
Visit iimidr.ac.in/admissions/integrated-programme-in-management and click on "Apply Online" / "New Registration." You will need a valid email ID and mobile number. The portal sends an OTP for verification. Use a personal email and phone you will have access to throughout the admission process.
Step 2: Fill the Application Form
- Personal Details: Name (exactly as on Class 10 marksheet), date of birth, category, PwBD status, address
- Academic Details: Class 10 board + percentage, Class 12 board + percentage (or appearing), school details
- Eligibility: Must have completed Class 12 with at least 60% (General/NC-OBC/EWS) or 55% (SC/ST/PwBD), or be appearing in 2026/2027. Maximum age 20 years (25 for SC/ST/PwBD) as on 31 July of admission year.
- Exam Centre Preferences: Choose 3 preferred cities. IIM Indore assigns the nearest available centre.
Step 3: Upload Documents
- Recent passport-size photograph (JPG, 10-200 KB)
- Scanned signature (JPG, 4-30 KB)
- Category certificate (if applicable)
- PwBD certificate (if applicable)
- Class 10 marksheet (for date-of-birth proof and eligibility)
Step 4: Pay the Application Fee
| Category | IPMAT 2026 Fee |
|---|---|
| General / NC-OBC / EWS | Rs. 4,130 (incl. GST) |
| SC / ST / PwBD | Rs. 2,065 (incl. GST) |
| Foreign Nationals | USD 100 |
Payment via net banking, debit/credit card, or UPI. Save the payment receipt. Note that JIPMAT fees are lower (Rs. 2,000 General / Rs. 1,000 reserved).
Step 5: Download Confirmation
After successful payment, download and save the application confirmation page. IIM Indore does not send a physical confirmation. The admit card is released roughly 10-12 days before the exam on the same portal.
Admit Card Details
The IPMAT admit card is released on iimidr.ac.in roughly 10-12 days before the exam. JIPMAT admit cards are on jipmat.nta.ac.in with the same T-10 to T-12 release pattern. Key points:
- Download and print the admit card on A4 paper. Colour print not mandatory; a clear monochrome print is fine.
- Verify all details: Name, photograph, exam centre, reporting time, exam time, candidate ID. Email the help desk immediately if anything is wrong.
- Carry to centre: The admit card is mandatory. Carry the printout along with a valid photo ID (Aadhaar / Passport / Driving Licence / Voter ID). Entry is denied without both.
- Visit the centre a day before if possible. IPMAT and JIPMAT centres run across major cities; finding yours under exam-day stress is avoidable.
- Both papers are single-session. IPMAT is a single 2-hour CBT; JIPMAT is a single 2.5-hour CBT. There is no "morning shift" vs "afternoon shift" — each candidate sits one slot only.
Exam Day SOP — 2-Hour CBT
Both IPMAT and JIPMAT are single-session computer-based tests. The typical day structure looks like this:
| Exam | Reporting | Gate Closing | Test Window |
|---|---|---|---|
| IPMAT (IIM Indore) | 30-60 min before slot | 15 min before slot | 120 min (2 hours) |
| JIPMAT (NTA) | 09:30 AM (typical) | 10:30 AM | 11:00 AM – 01:30 PM (2.5 hours) |
Exact slot timings are printed on your admit card.
What to Bring
- Printed admit card (mandatory)
- Valid photo ID (Aadhaar / Passport / Driving Licence / Voter ID)
- Two passport-size photographs (same as uploaded)

- Transparent water bottle, simple analog watch
What NOT to Bring
- Mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, fitness bands
- Calculators (an on-screen calculator is provided in the CBT interface)

Result Declaration, Cut-off & WAT-PI
How IPMAT & JIPMAT Declare Results
IPMAT (IIM Indore) publishes a section-wise raw score, total score, and sectional percentile on a single results portal. JIPMAT (NTA) publishes raw scores and NTA percentile. There is no normalization across shifts because both exams are single-session, single-slot, single-day. The results are downloadable as a PDF scorecard.
IPMAT 2026 Sectional Cut-offs (for WAT-PI shortlist)
- Quant SA section: typically 20-30 percentile for General; lower for reserved
- Quant MCQ section: 80+ percentile for General; lower for reserved
- Verbal Ability section: 70+ percentile for General; lower for reserved
- Overall composite: top 1,200-1,500 candidates per category invited to WAT-PI
Exact cut-offs are released with the shortlist on iimidr.ac.in. JIPMAT cut-offs vary by IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya and are published with the institute-wise counselling round.
WAT-PI & Final Selection (IIM Indore)
IIM Indore conducts Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds at the institute campus, typically in the second week of July. Final selection weight: IPMAT score 50% + WAT 15% + PI 35%, with additional weightages for Class 10/12 percentages and gender diversity. Final offer letters go out in August.
Pro Tip: If you cleared IPMAT but are awaiting JIPMAT, do not pause your WAT-PI prep. IIM Indore's WAT-PI rounds happen before IIM Jammu/Bodh Gaya counselling. Run both tracks in parallel and choose your best offer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. Is IPMAT an NTA exam?
No. IPMAT is conducted directly by IIM Indore. The portal is iimidr.ac.in/admissions/integrated-programme-in-management. JIPMAT (for IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya) is a different exam — that one IS NTA-conducted at jipmat.nta.ac.in.
Q2. When is IPMAT 2026 / 2027?
IPMAT 2026 was conducted in April 2026 (single-day CBT). Results and WAT-PI shortlist are out by June 2026; WAT-PI rounds in July; final selection in August. IPMAT 2027 is expected late April or early May 2027.
Q3. When is JIPMAT 2026?
JIPMAT 2026 is on Sunday, 7 June 2026. Single 2.5-hour CBT conducted by NTA at centres across India.
Q4. Can I attempt IPMAT more than once?
Yes, until you exceed the age limit (20 years for General / 25 for SC/ST/PwBD as on 31 July of admission year). There is no attempt cap, only the age cap. JIPMAT has the same age-based eligibility.
Q5. Are IPMAT and JIPMAT seats interchangeable?
No. IPMAT gets you IIM Indore (150 seats). JIPMAT gets you IIM Jammu or IIM Bodh Gaya. They are separate selection processes with separate counselling. To keep all options open, register and prepare for both.
Q6. When should I start preparing if I want IPMAT 2027?
An 18-month runway is ideal — start in late 2025 or early 2026 if you are eyeing IPMAT 2027. The Quant SA section is the hardest discriminator and rewards 6-9 months of focused practice. Our Lakshya 2027 course is designed for this runway.
